DAIRY QUEEN BLIZZARD

There are many different kinds of corporate generosity. But what Jayne Scala and her team at the Waterdown Dairy Queen do every year represents the very best.

Most corporate fundraisers donate their ‘proceeds’ (retail less costs) to a designated cause. What Jayne does is donate every red cent of every retail dollar spent tomorrow (Thursday, July 26 between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m.) on Blizzards to McMaster Children’s Hospital. Translation? Jayne absorbs all the costs (containers, raw materials, overheads, labour, etc.).

For Jayne – who accepted the Community Service by a Company Award on behalf of the Waterdown Dairy Queen at the 2010 Outstanding Business Achievement (OBA) awards gala hosted by the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce (FCC) – this is much more than fulfilling a corporate obligation. It’s personal!!

Jayne’s daughter Amelia was stricken with cancer a number of years ago and McMaster Children’s Hospital played a huge part in her beating this dreadful disease. Now Jayne, Amelia and the Dairy Queen team want to ‘pay it forward’ to help other desperately ill children. This year’s goal is $14,000. And don’t bet against Jayne and her team.

Please take a few moments out of your busy schedules to spent some time and money (you can make your own donation) at ‘Jayne’s Place’ tomorrow. You can even phone ahead with a bulk order so that all your colleagues can participate.

To find out more about this tremendous community event, you can read all about it in a Flamborough Review article which can be found HERE.
