CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Every year, the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce (FCC) honours and celebrates the very best in corporate excellence and community service at its Outstanding Business Achievement (OBA) awards gala. The gala – which has evolved into ‘the social event of the year in Flamborough’ – is scheduled for the evening of Friday, April 1, 2016 (no fooling).

The FCC is excited to announce that Nicole Martin of CHCH fame – a recipient of our Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award several years ago – has again agreed to emcee the gala. And again this year, someone at the gala will go home with two complimentary system-wide Westjet tickets.

Nominations for the awards are now being solicited. If you know an individual or a company that deserves to be recognized, please contact the FCC office. The categories are:

Lifetime Achievement Award
Business Growth and Development Award
Community Service by a Company Award
Community Service by an Individual Award
Green Award
Young Entrepreneur Award

In order to be considered for an OBA award, nominees in the categories listed above MUST be members of the FCC.

As one of its last acts before amalgamation some 15 years ago, Flamborough Council created the Town of Flamborough Award and asked the FCC to administer it. If you know of someone who has made an outstanding contribution in promoting and maintaining this incredible ‘community of communities’ that we know and love as Flamborough, please contact the FCC office. Unlike the other OBA awards above, a nominee for the Town of Flamborough Award does NOT have to be a member of the FCC.

Further details will be forwarded once they have been confirmed. For the time being, please mark the date in your calendar.

LIP SYNC BATTLE

Artistic Director Melanie Hedden-Perron of Rising Star Performing Arts is organizing and hosting the first annual ‘Lip Sync Battle’ in order to raise awareness and support for people living with ALS.

Building on the success of the recent ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ and the millions it raised through the campaign, promising breakthroughs are happening.
