TRUCK ROUTE MEETING
From experience, the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce (FCC) knows it is much more effective to influence public policy before it is enacted rather than to try and change it after it has been adopted. Just think of the truck route changes made several years ago that impacted so many of our members.
With Hamilton undertaking a review of its Transportation Master Plan, it is important that concerns be identified and addressed before it goes to Council for ratification. This review will examine many aspects of transportation throughout the entire city – including non-vehicular traffic (bicycles, etc), oversize vehicles (including farm equipment), weight restrictions and truck routes. Any business that relies on vehicular traffic needs to be part of the conversation.
In a pro-active move, the FCC is hosting a ‘Business Roundtable’ NEXT Wednesday, March 2. The meeting will start at noon in the upstairs boardroom of the Harry Howell Arena at Clappison’s Corners. Staff and consultants hired by the city to undertake the review will be at the meeting to outline the process, answer questions and listen to concerns.
To be very frank, this is one of those ‘speak now … or forever hold your peace’ meetings.
There is no charge to attend the meeting … and a light lunch will be served. But to better prepare, we ask that you RSVP to the FCC office to admin@flamboroughchamber.ca if you plan on attending.
