STATE OF THE CITY
About 200 community leaders gathered at the Waterfront Centre for breakfast this morning where City Manager Chris Murray presented his thoughts about where Hamilton is at – and where it is going. The meeting was organized and hosted by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. The FCC was represented by Executive Director Arend Kersten whose presence was recognized at the event.
Like Mayor Bratina did last week at a meeting of the Flamborough Breakfast Club, Murray presented a pretty optimistic picture. While he acknowledged that Hamilton faces some significant challenges (such as aging municipal infrastructure, the coming baby boom wave of municipal staff retirements and the need for more commercial/industrial assessment), Murray argued that when compared to other municipalities, Hamilton fares very well.
