IMPORTANT – RURAL ZONING BY-LAW
Even though the formal agenda for the meeting has not yet been posted, the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce (FCC) wants to alert its members that the Planning Committee of the City of Hamilton is scheduled to consider the proposed Rural Zoning By-law at its meeting of Tuesday, July 7. The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. in the Council chambers at Hamilton City Hall but there is no telling what time the Rural Zoning By-law will be considered.
This meeting is of particular importance to most landscapers located in rural Flamborough and Ancaster as well as those with rural properties zoned commercial and/or industrial.
An organization called CROP (Coalition for Rural Ontario Environmental Protection) has sent a 4-page letter to the Planning Committee objecting in very strong terms to permitting landscapers to seek an ‘exemption’ that would allow them to remain at current locations. A copy of the letter can be found by clicking HERE.
The required ‘public meeting’ under the Planning Act took place on March 31. During this 6-hour marathon meeting, many affected by the proposed Rural Zoning By-law shared their concerns. FCC Executive Director Arend Kersten – who addressed the Planning Committee on March 31 – will be attending next Tuesday’s meeting to monitor developments.
If someone wants to speak at next Tuesday’s meeting on the issue, they MUST register with the city. That can be done by contacting Legislative Co-ordinator Ida Bedioui at 905-546-2424, extension 605 or at ida.bedioui@hamilton.ca
