FCC AGM & TWO DEBATES
The Flamborough Chamber of Commerce (FCC) Board of Directors (BOD) met yesterday and finalized arrangements for two very important events.
On WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, the FCC will convene its Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM will be held at the Harry Howell Arena at Clappison’s Corners starting at 7:30 p.m. The usual matters will be on the agenda (Audited Financial Statements, BOD Vacancies, Annual Report, etc.).
BUT … the FCC has added something extra special to this year’s AGM. For the first hour, there will be an informal discussion/debate with the candidates in the October 19 federal election. Candidates Mike DiLivio (NDP), Jennifer Stebbing (Liberal) and David Sweet (Conservative) have all confirmed their participation.
Attendance at the AGM is limited exclusively to FCC members and their guests. That means a more intimate setting where attendees can ask questions related to the federal scene that are important to them. We hope many members will join us.
There is no fee to attend this meeting. To best prepare for the evening, please contact the FCC by return email to confirm you will be attending.
Then … on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7, the FCC will continue its long-standing tradition of organizing and hosting the All Candidates Debate at Waterdown District High School (WDHS). The debate will be taped for later broadcast (before the October 19 election) by our partners at TV COGECO in Burlington, and has been timed purposely to allow extensive coverage in the last edition of the Flamborough Review before election day.
This is a community debate and the public is invited to attend and participate. But members are encouraged to email questions to the FCC office before the debate so that they can be reviewed for priority consideration.
So, there you have it. The FCC AGM and TWOopportunities to get better informed about the upcoming election.
