About every 2-3 months, FCC Executive Director Arend Kersten meets with his regional counterparts – CEO David Adames from the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director Dave Cage from the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce – to discuss issues of mutual concern. It was Arend’s turn to host the meeting recently.

When the trio meets in Stoney Creek, they gather at a restaurant featuring delicious home-made coconut cream pie (a favourite of Arend’s). Dave Cage boasts it is the ‘very best’ coconut cream pie anywhere. Not to be outdone – Arend set out to match the Stoney Creek dessert. So he contacted Ross Nelson at the Coachman. While coconut cream pie is not ordinarily on the menu, Ross arranged to have some made especially for the chamber trio. After savouring it, Dave Cage pronounced it ‘the very best coconut cream pie – ever’ and then added he would inform his member in Stoney Creek that they still made the ‘best coconut cream pie ever.’ Can’t win for trying. Sigh ….
