Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina and Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale Conservative MP David Sweet have confirmed they too will be attending this week’s Town Hall meeting where MPP Tim Hudak will be the featured speaker. MPP Hudak (Niagara-West Glanbrook) is Leader of the Official Opposition in the Ontario Legislature at Queen’s Park and the head of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party.

At MPP Hudak’s request, the Town Hall meeting is being organized and will be hosted by the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce (FCC) this Thursday, July 19 beginning at 8 a.m. (a.m. – as in morning) at the Dutch Mill Country Market on Millgrove Side Road (just north of Highway #5).

Our friends and partners at TV Cogeco will tape MPP Hudak’s speech for later broadcast on Community Channel 23 as part of its ‘Keynote’ series.

A question and answer session will follow MPP Hudak’s formal remarks. While it is impossible to predict, it is expected that the following topics may come up in one form or another:

• The ‘White Paper’ on proposed changes to rules and regulations governing unions in Ontario
• The challenges Ontario’s horse racing industry is facing
• Post-amalgamation analysis and review
• The proposed St. Mary’s quarry north of Carlisle
• Changes to Ontario’s gaming industry (i.e: the OLG Slots at flamboro downs)
• The province’s fiscal condition
• The proposed intersection at Highways #5 and #6 at Clappison’s Corners
• The proposed Toronto-Niagara Transportation Corridor (aka the ‘Mid-Peninsula Highway’)

The meeting is open to everyone. There is no admission fee but pre-registration with the FCC office is required (either by email atadmin@flamboroughchamber.ca or by telephone at 905-689-7650).

Tim Hudak wants to be the next premier of Ontario. While it is impossible to predict what may happen during an election campaign, MPP Hudak – if public opinion polls are to believed – may just get his wish. This week’s Town Hall meeting is the perfect opportunity to get to know more about his vision for the future of the province while providing attendees with an opportunity to discuss issues important to them on a face-to-face basis.
