FCC LRT MEETING – FULL VIDEO

A vigorous – but respectful – discussion on Hamilton’s ‘light rail transit’ (LRT) project took place last week Wednesday, May 25 at the Business Roundtable hosted by the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce (FCC) at the Harry Howell Arena. Moderated by FCC Executive Director Arend Kersten, participants included staff from Hamilton’s LRT Department, Metrolinx and CEO Keanin Loomis of the Hamilton Chamber of  Commerce (HCC). Also in attendance was Ward 14 (West Flamborough) Councillor Robert Pasuta.

Arend has been appointed as the FCC’s representative on Hamilton’s LRT Committee (which includes Mayor Fred Eisenberger and six members of Council). At the conclusion of the first meeting he attended, Arend said the FCC would be preparing a list of questions regarding the project. In time, the FCC BOD prepared 15 questions regarding the project and it potential impacts on Flamborough taxpayers. When the answers were presented, representatives from the LRT Department and Metrolinx offered to meet with the FCC to explain the project and answer questions. That led to last week’s Business Roundtable.

At its next meeting, the Board of Directors (BOD) will review the meeting and discuss the future of the FCC’s role in the project.
